2025 Aviation Outlook

2024 was a big year for the aviation industry (you can check out our 2024 aviation recap to remind yourself of key aviation events that happened last year). Likewise, 2025 promises to also be a big year for aviation. In this blog post, I take a look at some key things that might happen in the world of aviation in 2025. It is worth mentioning that at the time of writing, these are only scheduled events and they may end up not happening due to delays, cancellations or other unforeseen circumstances.

In 2025 there are a number of aircraft set to enter service for the first time at certain airlines. The Emirates A350 will enter commercial service in January with flights to Edinburgh while the A321XLR will enter commercial service at Aer Lingus with flights to Nashville and Indianapolis in the United States. It is worth noting that the A321XLR has already entered service with Aer Lingus on 20th December 2024 operating flight EI119 flying from Dublin to Washington Dulles (IAD).

There are also a number of airshows planned for 2025 including the Paris Airshow from the 16th - 22nd June 2025 and the Dubai Airshow from the 17th - 21st November 2025. It is likely that we will see more aircraft orders at these airshows.

2025 will also be a big year for Boeing as the company focuses on stabilizing itself, rebuilding 737 and 787 production and working towards certification of the 737 MAX 9 and 737 MAX 10 aircraft. Additionally, Boeing will work on acquiring Spirit AeroSystems. Boeing hopes that 737 MAX 7 and 737 MAX 10 certification will happen in the first half of 2025. Boeing will also look to make progress with the 777X aircraft which is due to enter service in 2026 (hopefully).

It is also likely that 2025 will see improvements regarding aviation and sustainability such as hydrogen and electric flight and the production and use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) on a commercial scale.

Overall, 2025 has a lot in store regarding aviation. These are only some key highlights of things that are likely to happen in 2025. It is also very likely that some unexpected events will happen throughout the year and airlines, airports and aviation bodies will have to be flexible and ready to adapt as the year goes on.
