November 2023 saw the Dubai Air Show happen at the Dubai World Central Airport. This year, the airshow took place from the 13th - 17th of November 2023. The show takes place every other year. In this post, I will look at some of the exciting developments and orders.
Day 1
The big news of Day 1 was that Emirates ordered 90 777X aircraft. This increases the backlog to 205. Additionally, Emirates changed its 787 orders with 35 total orders made up of 20 787-8's and 15 787-10's. In other news, FlyDubai placed its first widebody order for 30 787's. This is the airline's first widebody order in its history and deliveries are expected from 2026. Finally, airBaltic placed firm commitments for 30 A220-300s with purchase rights for another 20. This will enable airBaltic to operate a fleet of 100 A220s by 2030.
Day 2
On Day 2, EgyptAir ordered 10 A350-1000s and Ethiopian ordered 67 Boeing aircraft. This order is broken down to 20 737 MAXs (with options for 21 more) and 11 787-9's (with options for 15 more).
Day 3
On Day 3, Ethiopian Airlines ordered more aircraft. This order was for 11 more A350's.
Day 4
On Day 4, Emirates ordered 15 A350-900s.
