Today is the first day of the 2023 Paris Air Show. This is the first time the show has been held since 2019 as it was cancelled in 2021 due to COVID-19.
Here are some key highlights of the first day of the Paris Air Show.

Indian carrier IndiGo placed an order with Airbus for up to 500 A320 family aircraft. This order has been rumoured for some time and these rumours were confirmed today. This order is the largest single commercial order in history and brings the airline's A320 family orders to over 1,200.
The first order for Airbus today was by Air Mauritius who got the ball rolling by placing an order with Airbus for 3 more A350-900 aircraft. This will help the carrier reach its goals to expand its service to Europe and South Asia.
Flynas has also made headlines by firming up its order for 30 new A320 family aircraft. This takes the airline's total deal to 120 A320neo aircraft.
These orders were not the only things happening at the Paris Air Show today:
Qatar Airways Executive announced it will offer the Gulfstream G700 business jet for its VIP passengers.
Additionally, Canadian manufacturer, De Havilland has announced that it will produce an all-new Twin Otter aircraft. This two-engine utility aircraft first flew in 1965 and has served a number of roles. De Havilland claims that it already had letters of intent for an initial 45 aircraft.
