Singapore Airshow 2024

The 2024 Singapore Airshow took place from 20 February 2024 - 25 February 2024. There were some big orders this year. In this post, I take a look at some of these orders. This post is not a comprehensive list but these are some orders I believe are significant.

THAI ordered 45 Boeing 787-9 aircraft to expand its widebody fleet. CEO of THAI said that the aircraft would help Thai Airways reach its carbon-neutral goals by 2050. All 45 of these aircraft will have GEnx engines. This is a significant change as Thai's current 787 fleet has Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines.

THAI also announced aircraft lease agreements with Aercap comprising 17 aircraft.

This included: four A350-900s, three 787-9 and ten A321neo aircraft.

Starlux Airlines ordered 8 Airbus aircraft including three A330neo and five A350F aircraft. With this order, Starlux remains an all-Airbus aircraft operator.

Tibet Airways ordered 40 C919 and 10 ARJ21 high-altitude models from COMAC. This is a significant milestone for COMAC which also made its first-ever international flight demonstration at the Singapore Airshow.

This is not everything that happened at the Singapore Airshow in 2024, however, these are some key events that stick out to me.

Were there any orders that surprised you at the airshow this year?
